Nepalese/Nepal Premier League (NPL)

Nepal Premier League (NPL) is a professional league in Nepal. Also known as NCELL Nepal Premier League It will include tournaments of T20, 50 overs and two-day formats. All the formats will be played in round-robin league from the groups.The first edition of the tournament starting from April 2014 with six franchises consisting of players from Domestic and International. The most awaited Nepal Premier League has been unveiled 24th February in a press conference held in Hotel Radisson this afternoon. NPL is going to be a historical cricket tournament played domestically with an international touch. Zohra Sports Management and Cricket Association of Nepal have done an exclusive agreement to introduce NPL for three years to start with. The main Sponsor of this League is Corporate Communication of Nepal NCELL.

History

The Nepalese Premier League is a T20, 50 overs and two-day formats cricket tournament which was inaugurated in 2014.

First Season 

The season of the tournament will be from April to May 2014. The group stages featured six teams playing each other with the top four overall progressing to the semi-finals.

League Teams (6) 

It has 6 Domestic league Team.Each team has 16 member squad including current national cricketers, U19 Cricketers, Regional cricketers and two Overseas cricketers along with domestic coaches. The team owner can bring any two overseas players who are not restricted/banned by ICC.

Selection Of Players/Teams

The selection has been done by National Coach Mr. Pubudu Dassanayake under National Cricket Academy (NCA) to make sure all the teams are evenly stacked up for the equal contest.

Rules And Regulations
 

There are five ways that a franchise can acquire a player. In the annual auction, buying domestic players, signing uncapped players, through trading and buying replacements. In the trading window players can only be traded with his consent. The franchise will have to pay the difference between the old contract price and the new contract price. If the new contract is worth more than the older one then the difference will be shared between the player and the franchise selling the player.

• Each team will consist of 16 payers

• Maximum of 2 Overseas players.

• Each team must contain Domestic Associate player. (i.e., U19 Cricketers, Regional cricketers )
