KATHMANDU: A three-member committee formed for the feasibility study of an international standard stadium has submitted its report to the National Sports Council (NSC) today.

The report — prepared by then Youth and Sports Ministry Under Secretary Surya Prasad Sharma, NSC Construction Unit Chief Arun Upadhyaya and engineer Sanjeev Sharma — has concluded that the international standard stadium could be constructed at the 100 ropanis of land available at the Putalidada and Gamcha Community Forest in Jagdol at the North-East of Kathmandu valley.

“The stadium could incorporate a seating capacity of 40,000, while the surrounding perihery could be used for the construction of eight to 10 sports venue in an area of 4000 square kilometres,” the report reads. NSC Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama said the report will now be forwarded for further process beginning with land approval.
