If reports are to be true, Nepal will soon be hosting an international tournament including four teams this December at the TU Stadium.
According to a report in English national daily The Himalayan Times, Kathmandu Cricket Management, a private firm, is gearing itself to host an international cricket tournament that will include two top level clubs from India along with Nepal and Singapore national teams.
The newspaper reports that the organisers were in line to bring Canada for the tournament but the North American country withdrew due to technical reasons.
“The arrival of Singapore is almost confirmed and we are going to have a tournament here after the national team returns from the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers in the UAE. Canada have withdrawn from the tournament and the organisers are looking forward to bring two teams from India,” the newspaper quoted a source as saying.
Kiran Rana, a member of the CAN, however told the newspaper that the cricket governing body was completely unaware about it. “We don’t know anything about the tournament of such kind. I don’t know if any organisation is planning to hold the event on its own. But CAN has not been informed about it,” Rana told The Himalayan Times.
The organisers are yet to make any confirmation regarding the report. Kathmandu Cricket Management is the same compnay with whom the cricket govnering body signed an agreement to manage the Tribhuvan University Stadium but nothing has been progressed so far.
